Liza & Steve’s engagement session was a blast. We started out shooting in one of my favorite wooded areas in Palos Verdes then made the short drive to the Redondo Beach strand where we skate boarded and played in the sand. Liza & Steve will be married next year so there is more to come from these guys. Looking forward to your big day Liza & Steve.

Riley’s senior portrait session took place in Duluth Minnesota. We decided to shoot in the Park Point area as this would give us a ton of beachie backdrops as well as open spaces galore. Despite having to run back under a bridge for cover due to a surprise downpour, we came away with some fun and memorable images.

Meet Samantha – Manhattan Beach Newborn Photography

Little Samantha was only days old when her parents and I got together for her Newborn photography session. She is absolutely adorable and was so comfortable during her session that she slept through most of it. She did however wake up for a few minutes and graced us with her adorable smile. The shoot was held in her Manhattan Beach home.

Will & Collin’s Wedding Celebration

The title of this post is “Will & Collin’s Wedding Celebration”, because the grooms were married by the courthouse sometime before this event took place. The “Wedding Celebration” was intended to be an event during which Will & Collin could celebrate their marriage with those friends and family who could not make it to the courthouse. The Wedding took place at the Huron Substation in Los Angeles. In attendance were the elegant Chelsea Clinton as well as the talented Sarah Bareilles. The team at Element Weddings was on site to make sure the event went on without a hitch. On to the images!

Two of my favorite people recently got married. The wedding took place at the amazing Icon highrise located in the heart of South Beach. Their wedding was done their way… and it was awesome!

Death Valley 2014

Growing up I’d heard of a place called Death Valley… I’d think to my self, “that place sounds terrible!”. Little did I know that halfway through my adult life, Death Valley would become one of my favorite places on earth. Having always lived in a major city, I’ve come to appreciate and long for vast open spaces and utter desolation. The peace and quiet that one can find in DV is second to none. This last trip to DV was my second trip in two years. Schedule and life permitting, I’d like to make it a yearly event. My first trip to DV in 2013 was amazing. The two friends I went with and I explored a good portion of the park but due to time constraints could not make it out to the “Racetrack Playa”. This second trip was all about making it to the Racetrack and seeing/photographing the mysterious sailing stones of Death Valley. Making it to the Racetrack is easier said that done. First of all you’ll need a off-road capable vehicle ideally a 4×4. The reason for this is that the road to the Racetrack is 30 miles long in each direction and contains some of the deepest washboard you’ll ever see. Not to mention razor sharp rocks that constantly threaten to blow out your tire. BTW, before making the trip to the Racetrack, my cousin and I spoke at some length with a park ranger who informed us that tow service anywhere on the road to the Racetrack will cost a minimum of $3,000! With that warning, we knocked on wood, crossed our fingers and went for it. Fortunately, with good preparation and some luck we made it to the Racetrack without incident. We camped there overnight and had the opportunity to take a few pics. BTW, the night time skies in DV are so dark that you can clearly see the milky-way band overhead and the stars shine with such intensity that you can see your shadow on the ground from the starlight…. not exaggerating. Katie & Krysten’s Palos Verdes Wedding

Katie & Krysten who are from Michigan, had plans to visit family while in Los Angeles. Along with visiting family, they planned on seeing some sights and enjoying a pleasant vacation. Then since same sex marriage is not yet legal in Michigan, someone suggested that perhaps they should look into getting married while in L.A. Apparently the thought had already crossed their mind because in a very short time they arranged a beautifully spontaneous wedding ceremony along the Western cliffs in Palos Verdes. The skies were blue and the sun was out… barely a cloud in the sky…. only thing were the 20mph winds with occasional stronger gusts! No matter! The ceremony went off without a hitch and in my opinion the winds made for some very dynamic and dramatic hair. Fashion photographers employ huge wind machines to create the same effect mother nature kindly provided for us on that day. After the ceremony we took a short and gorgeous drive north to Terranea Resort where the brides’, friends and family gathered for a pleasant sunset dinner. On to the pics.

Julie’s Maternity Session

So this was my first on location maternity shoot. The first few were all shot in-studio but for Julie’s shoot I though it would be a nice change of pace to have our shoot at one of my favorite parks. Julie and her family looked like they had just stepped out of a magazine… making my job a piece of cake! LOL

Kristen’s Maternity Ssession

The more that I shoot maternity sessions, the more I enjoy them! Much like a wedding there is an anticipation that is palpable, there is something wonderful just around the corner. I photographed Kristen as she was 40 weeks pregnant, she had a beautiful baby girl just a few days after our shoot.

Katy’s Maternity Session

It was such a pleasure working with Katy and her husband Ryan. At the time of our shoot, Katy was thirty nine weeks into her pregnancy… she looked amazing and was a true sport given the fact that even posing for pictures this far into a pregnancy can be a bit uncomfortable to say the least. Needless to say, Katy pulled it off and the images we captured turned out in my opinion… pretty cool! BTW, just a few days after this shoot, Katy & Ryan welcomed a brand new baby boy into their lives!
