Recently, I shot the GLAAD Media Awards red carpet for Delta Airlines. Delta Airlines was one of the sponsors at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards. I have to admit, I really wasn’t quite prepared for the craziness that can ensue alongside the red carpet as the many photographers who are present compete for the best positions. Fortunately, I was able to find a fairly good spot and photographed plenty of celebs from a good angle. Below are a few of the images I captured. They include: Maria Menounos, Chirs Evans, Kelly Rowland, Elle Fanning, Rumor Willis, Melody Thomas Scott, Ali Larter, Sara Gilbert, Cloris Leachman, Trevor Donovan and more.

Zhichen & Kevin’s Redondo Beach Wedding

Started the day off with the bride’s getting ready shots at the Portofino Hotel on Redondo’s waterfront. Ceremony and reception also took place there. Finished the day by taking a few pics at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Palos Verdes.

Reese & Nathan’s Downtown Los Angeles Wedding

Reese & Nathan’s wedding ceremony took place in the L.A. Science Center’s rose garden. The bride’s pre-wedding preparation as well as the reception took place at the Miyako Hotel. Congratulations Reese & Nathan!

Lisa & Michael Engaged

I had the honor of recently being present to document Michael’s proposal to Lisa. It all took place in Encinitas at the beach. Present at the proposal were all of Lisa & Michael’s closest friends and family members. Lisa & Michael are both avid runners so their marathon themed proposal was well accessorized with a starting line & running bibs. Also, Lisa happens to be very fond of balloons so more than a few of them were TRUCKED in and added a ton of color to the entire event! The anticipation was palpable as proposal time drew near; there was even a crowd of beach goers who had gathered to watch the proposal take place. She said YES!

Jen & Seb’s Manhattan Beach Engagement Shoot

Jen & Seb were a blast to work with. We met up one afternoon and had a blast capturing the images you see below. They brought two sets of outfits, one upscale and one traditional Thai outfit. Don’t know if you can tell but I loved Jen’s traditional Thai dress! I’ll also be shooting their wedding in the coming months.

Briana & Dave’s Downtown L.A. Wedding

Briana & Dave’s wedding took place this past New Year’s Eve in downtown Los Angeles. They got ready at the Los Angeles Athletic club where we were able to take advantage of the athletic club’s amazing rooftop. The wedding and reception took place at LoftSeven also in downtown L.A. Their wedding ceremony took place at the rooftop at LoftSeven, rooftops were a bit of a theme on that day! For the reception, instead of having their guests sit at multiple tables, Briana & Dave created a hundred foot long table for all their gusts to sit at and get to know each other a bit better. The huge table made for a very casual and cozy atmosphere. Briana & Dave as well as their family and friends were a blast to work with and we all had a great time capturing the images you see below.

Since I’ve been photographing lots of families lately, I decided to pick out a few highlight images from each shoot and combine them all into one blog post. I have to say, fatherhood has deeply influenced the way I approach family portraiture. As a father I’ve come to understand the connection between parent and child, it is a connection that is difficult to describe in words but takes no effort to feel. When capturing images for my family clients, I aim to focus on this bond in order to let it come through in the images that I create. This bond, this connection, this love shared by family can come across in so many ways… in a smile, a look, a hug, all of which are represented here and there within the images you’ll find below. Briana & Dave’s Manhattan Beach Engagement Session

I have to be honest, I’ve totally slacked at blogging lately. I’m making a conscious effort to get back into the blogging thing with total regularity. With that said…. Meet Briana and Dave! World travelers, free spirits, creatives, the list goes on and on. Individually, Briana is the beautiful & well traveled surfer girl next door and Dave is quiet, confident and artistic. As I’ve mentioned above, these two have traveled the world together and boy can they tell you a story or two. If I can only achieve to travel half of what Briana and Dave have traveled, I can die a happy well traveled old dude! Traveling and surfing… among other things, are very important to both Briana & Dave. With this in mind we came up with a theme for their engagement shoot. First of all we absolutely had to feature their old school Volvo wagon in a few of our shots. The Volvo has been there since the beginning and has taken them from Surfing outings to mountain roads to off-roading in the high desert. The Volvo, has seen it all. Secondly we wanted to include their surfboards in the shoot. I think we accomplished both of those requirements. Briana & Dave will be married this New Year’s Eve and I’m honored to say that I’ll be there to photograph their wedding day as well. Hang ten folks.
